Our Services

Purpose of SBDP

The purpose of Santa Barbara Document Preparation (SBDP) services is to aid people of color, regardless of age, color, disability, gender, gender expression, gender identity, genetic information, national origin, race, religion, sex, sexual orientation, or veteran status.  This service is intended to assist you with the preparation and filing of all documents/petitions needed to Seal and Destroy or Expunge your criminal arrest records.  The California Criminal Justice System can be overwhelming and very expensive for many people.  SBDP wants to help you navigate through the process of “cleaning” your record, by providing step-by-step assistance without paying excessive legal fees.

SBDP services are only available to individuals in the state of California needing an expungement (Penal Code 1203.4 and 1203.4a) on Misdemeanor cases only.

Felony cases must first be reduced (see Penal Code 17b) to a Misdemeanor before filing for an Expungement or Seal and Destroy adult arrest records. (Penal Code 851.8)

Filing Charges and Fees

The California Courts charge a fee for filing each dismissal/expungement petition. The fees are as follows:

$120 for each Felony case.

$60 for each Misdemeanor case.

There is no filing fee for dismissing/expunging infractions.

SBDP Service Fees:

Seal and Destroy Records = $150

Reducing Felony to Misdemeanor = $50
